Really cool material with white softer inclusions that have degraded over the last 2000 years. Technically, a porphyrytic material. Piece also has pitted sides for use as fire starters as a bonus. 3/4 Grooved Axe - #9-9 Size: 6 1/8" Long x 2 1/4" wide x 2 3/4" Tall Provenance: Found in Central Ohio. Condition: Excellent. Absolutely fantastic form. Bit has old and completely salvaged damage on lower part of the bit. The prehistoric repair creates a different bit angle than typical. Great size. Superior raised ridges. Highly defined poll. Killer Ohio Axe - #9-10 Size: 7" Long x 4 1/2" T Provenance: Found in Clinton County, Ohio. X: Lewis Condition: Super. Classic Ohio type axe with a short poll. Stands perfectly. Very heavy fine grained light tan granite. I feel the light color is from thousands of years of ground patination. A few plow scrapes. I would give this axe a very solid 8.5 of 10. Tall Axe 3/4 Groove - #9-11 Size: 4 3/4" Long x 4" T. One of the tallest axes I have seen in proportion to length Provenance: Came from a Bettendorf, Iowa collection. Condition: Excellent. Stands very tall, and very interesting ratio of height to length. Despite height, it stands very well. Well defined with a squared off top. Old salvaged damage towards top of poll. Price: $150 |

Heavy polish, perfect stander, great porphyry inclusion. Top of bit shows a cool resharpening pattern that might be old damage polished over. See bottom picture. No brainer old. Price: $225 |
